The Rosebank Hotel Gets a Complete Make-Over with Bose® Sound

The Rosebank HotelWhen you mention The Rosebank Hotel, the first thing that comes to mind is luxury, elegance, and style. Rosebank is an elite suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa, maintaining a standard of luxurious hospitality and homely comforts. As the hotel had recently undergone a major make-over, the management approached South African Bose dealer AudioTech to provide a comprehensive sound system solution for many of the hotels' facilities.

AudioTech were given a very rigid project timeline of four months to design, install, commission and deliver the site to the project management. This challenging project management operation was carried out under the watchful guidance of AudioTech contract manager, Conrad Pearson.

AudioTech utilised a range of Bose loudspeakers to design audio solutions in various areas of the hotel.

  • The Gym and guest workout area is installed with four Bose FreeSpace® DS 100SE full range loudspeakers. The innovative mounting bracket accessory of the DS 100SE loudspeakers offered horizontal and vertical mounting options and its rotatable articulated array design enabled the sound system designers to achieve the required coverage consistently. Therefore fewer loudspeakers are needed to create even coverage.
  • Reception and Lounge have been installed with 19 Bose FreeSpace DS 16F loudspeakers. They have been installed in the ceiling in distributed cluster formation to achieve even coverage.
  • The Fresh Restaurant offers a unique experience to its visitors with its live cooking concept kitchen. Fourteen Bose FreeSpace DS 16F loudspeakers have been installed to enhance this experience. The outer terrace is installed with a pair of Bose FreeSpace DS 16SE.
  • The "Circles Bar", another significant facility contributing to the hotel's unique approach to décor and service, in enhanced by 8 Bose FreeSpace DS 16F flush mount and two FreeSpace 3 Virtually Invisible® loudspeaker systems.

The dispersion was much wider than a normal ceiling loudspeaker and therefore fewer speakers were needed.” Conrad said.

Conrad Pearson told SoundCheck that the timeline was the biggest challenge of this installation combined with the requirements for the interior designers.

Although the unique décor of the hotel did present some installation challenges, however wide offering of the Bose range of products enabled us to accommodate most of the imposed installation restrictions and unique décor requirements,” he added. “Now that the hotel is operational it is pleasing to all guests to walk through the beautiful spaces of the hotel, and hear uniform and crisp Bose sound quality sound throughout.
