Middle East and Africa Sound Check

Articulated Array® System Technology: “Better Sound through Unique Approach”

Imagine, you are sitting at the airport, waiting for the departure of a very important flight. There is an announcement, some mumbled sounds, barely understandable. The next moment, you realize that you just missed your flight! Reason? Poor sound quality of the airport’s public addressing and paging system, Result? The flight announcement was totally unintelligible..

Bose Corporation’s exceptional technologies which are incorporated into various products are what makes the company unique. Bose has been firmly committed to developing new and better technologies, thus reinvesting a significant amount of the profit into research.  This issue of SoundCheck will focus on one of the technologies developed by the company to help consultants, designers and installers provide better solutions for their clients.

Bose® proprietary Articulated Array technology is engineered to help overcome the acoustic challenges of auditoriums, nightclubs, theatres, houses of worship, transportation facilities and other public places to provide clear, lifelike sound well beyond what you may have ever thought possible in these applications.

The Articulated Array® systems use a patented driver configuration to provide clear, lifelike sound and even sound coverage not always possible with conventional loudspeaker cabinet designs. This technology reduces acoustical dead spots and allows listeners to experience the full range sound of music and speech from small and unobtrusive loudspeakers.

Bose® Articulated Array® Technology incorporated loudspeaker range is engineered to provide precise, even coverage of audience areas while reducing the amount of sound reaching areas where there is no audience. The elements in each array are precisely aimed to cover surprisingly wide listening areas.
Following are Bose® loudspeakers which have the Articulated Array® technology system incorporated within them.

Panaray® 302™A Loudspeaker

Panaray® 302™A Loudspeaker

The Bose Panaray® 302™A is a versatile indoor/outdoor loudspeaker designed to provide 180 degrees of coverage.  This full-range, two-way speaker uses proprietary Articulated Array® speaker design to reproduce sound over a wide listening area, using fewer speakers to provide more coverage.
All Panaray®® 302™A loudspeakers come equipped with heavy-duty mounting brackets supplied with flanged self-locking screws that keep speakers securely in place on walls or ceilings. They are built to last through snow, rain, salt and temperature extremes of 140°F (60°C) to -22°F (-30°C).
The Panaray®® 302™A loudspeaker delivers frequency response of 75Hz to 16kHz, therefore can be installed in commercial music applications such as outdoor decks, entranceways, reception areas of hotels, restaurants and transportation facilities.

Panaray® 402® Series II Loudspeaker

Panaray® 402® Series II Loudspeaker

Weighing only 15 pounds (7kg), The Bose 402-II loudspeakers are easy to carry and can be conveniently set up. They are an excellent choice for permanently installed distributed systems, having a full line of brackets and stands available, accommodating a wide variety of configurations and installations. These loudspeakers have four proprietary 4.5” full-range drivers and active EQ to help reproduce vocals and acoustic instruments with clarity and detail. The unique speaker design also helps reproduce prerecorded music with much of the warmth and feeling of a live performance.

The proprietary Articulated Array® speaker configuration positions the drivers for broad horizontal and narrow vertical dispersion. An acoustic diffractor broadens and smoothes the sound pattern for more uniform and even coverage.
The advanced composite transducers have been re-engineered to withstand environmental extremes like blistering heat to frigid cold, dusty air to dense fog, and also conditions like wind, rain and snow.

The Bose 402® loudspeaker is designed to work with any bass enclosure for extended bandwidth applications. Also, these speakers have been engineered to operate with the Panaray system digital controller. The correct equalization can be selected with the touch of a button for one, two or more Bose 402® loudspeakers operating in mono or stereo.

Panaray® 802® Series III Loudspeaker

Panaray® 802® Series III Loudspeaker

Need a speaker that works as hard as you do? Get the audio quality, versatility and durability needed with the 802® Series III loudspeaker. This enhanced flagship professional loudspeaker delivers high-output performances for medium-size clubs, large indoor venues and outdoor spaces. New drivers and active equalization help reproduce vocals and musical instruments with improved smoothness and warmth—at low or high volumes, from live or recorded music.

The 802 Series III loudspeakers uses eight proprietary full-range drivers to provide a more consistent sound field than conventional speakers that rely on woofers, tweeters and crossovers. This proprietary speaker configuration uses a baffle array for each driver to provide wide horizontal and vertical dispersion over all bandwidths.

The Bose Panaray® 802® III speakers are now part of the new Installed Anywhere® speaker line, meeting the strictest standards for outdoor use. The transducer has been upgraded to withstand snow, sleet and rain, severe cold, high heat and humidity—the worst that Mother Nature can dish out. The input/output connectors are extremely rugged and reliable, and the sturdy yet lightweight mica-reinforced polyethylene cabinet stands up to severe weather and frequent transporting.

The Bose 802-III loudspeakers can be stacked to create the configuration of loudspeaker that offers even greater throw distance, more controlled vertical and very wide horizontal coverage. Specially deigned cabinetry of the Bose 802-III makes the stacking of the loudspeakers secure and easy.
