In Memory of the Gentle Giant " Kurt Wagner"

The Gentle Giant - Kurt WagnerKurt joined Bose 1987 after hosting the Acoustic Wave Cannon Introduction at the Nashville National Sound Contractors Association tradeshow.  He was a member of the Bose Professional Systems technical support group; in fact, he was the technical support person for the entire range of Pro products in those days.  Kurt was the most adept Bose Modeler user that people had ever witnessed.  He was both fast and pin-point accurate. He was responsible for and co-authored the Bose Professional Sound System Design Guide with Ken Jacob (2nd Edition released in 1994) which he later taught to thousands of designers, contractors and Bose employees around the world. He was always available to support anyone with an audio system design problem. In 1998 Kurt joined the Asian Business Development Group of Bose Corporation as the regional field engineer. In February 2001, he moved on to the professional systems division marketing group as the business music systems (BMS) marketing manager. He became the business development manager for business music systems in September 2001.

Kurt was Bose Corporation India Private Limited Pro team’s mentor. He was responsible for guiding the design and the technical team and instilling the confidence in them. Bose India commenced an award in his memory – Kurt Wagner Memorial to recognize the Best Field Engineering Work.

“Kurt was one of the kindest and most caring Gentle Giants l have ever had the pleasure to work with and be in the company of” says John Sabell, Sales Manager, Bose UK “I can recall one visit he made to the UK, must be around 12-years ago now; l collected him from Manchester airport after his transatlantic flight, we eventually managed to shoehorn him into my car, which compared to US cars was not an easy task. We traveled together for 4-days around the north of England and down to the Midlands; it was an experience l will never forget. Every Dealer we met was amazed at his knowledge, his presence and his wonderful delivery of explanations of all manner of technical issues related to audio!”

Phaisal Asavasopon, Bose distributor in Thailand, had the company of working with Kurt on many occasions. “I always said to my team that we need 3 persons to replace Kurt. He is good Engineer, good Teacher and good Business mind. He never gave up if the work he responsible is not done. After Kurt passed away and when I introduce someone from Bose to the audio monk at Dhammakaya Temple, the audio monk always mention all the good things that Kurt did for the temple. My team is pleased to have worked with him in several projects and we all miss him very much. May Lord Buddha bless him!”

Ratish Pandey, of Bose India tell us “Kurt’s association started with India in May 1997 when he delivered the first training on Bose Products.  Subsequent at the Corporate Trainer he trained all the Bose India initial employees on Sound System Design Guide and also to the designers, the Modeler and Auditioner. Kurt was actively involved in training the entire Bose India’s pro team. This he carried on from 1997 till the year 2002. During the period he was also the mentor for the Bose India designer. Kurt was a man of integrity. His knowledge on sound, acoustics of large spaces was second to none.  The good thing was the clarity of thought that he brought on the table and the articulation that he used in his words. A man who would “call a spade, a spade”.
